We’ve got a brand new bag.

Green is the new cool. Do you notice every where you go people are talking about being green and it has nothing to do with a cute and slightly clueless amphibian? It seems as if everyone is jumping on this bandwagon – but if there is a trend to be had, this is it. We’ve been talking about being eco-friendly with our favors for awhile and it’s become a major focal point in adding new products and packaging options, even when considering shipping our items. We’ve found some great hip new favor bags made from cogon grass in remote villages around the world as well as some cute little tote bags made from sustainable bamboo. I am really excited to be able to find so many options to offer, as an informed woman very interested in using other resources besides trees and plastic.

I am also pleased to report we are adding reusable fabric grocery and shopping bags to the mix to be sold as singles or in packs for favors or gifts or just because you want to get on board the eco-train. They are so lightweight and roll up into their own little pouch that makes them so great for our site. The bags can hold from 25 to 44lbs, depending on which one you like, but considering a gallon of milk weighs 7 pounds, these bags are pretty strong and durable yet still roll up small enough to stick in your purse or glove compartment!

After spending some time perfecting our Herbs in a Box Wedding Favor, we decided to add a more simple option for those looking for green favors with a smaller price tag. These Herbs in a Box® Junior Favors are really cute little offerings to guests and we have a variety of herbs to choose from. We are now using peat pellets with all the herbs favors as they cut down on assembly time and are much more feasible as a favor that will travel with guests.

We do not sell the labels with these favors, however, as customers are welcome to purchase any label or tag they want. The boxes are
3″W x 3″L x 2″H and come with your color choice of raffia (wraphia) ribbon. Both our 2.5″ round labels
or the 2″ tags would work and we are in the process of expanding our wraparound label selection which would also work. If there is a design you like but do not see an option in the format you are looking for, please feel free to email us or call.
*These favors are designed with 100% recycled material. Kraft boxes and raffia ribbon are 100% recycled. Peat pellets and peat pots are 100% earth-friendly biodegradable options for planting. Seeds a packed in glassine paper bags which are 100% Biodegradable and 100% Recyclable. All tags are printed on 100% recycled material.

Bridal Hairapy

During the months leading up to my friend Beth’s wedding, we had a few discussions about her hairdo for the big wedding day. She went back and forth trying to decide what to do for the big day. If only we knew about this great site on Brides.com – you can upload your own photo and then add on different hairstyles, even makeup ideas! I tried it out but I won’t scare you with the results – the looks can get pret-ty crazy so it’s fun to try it out even just to decide on a new cut!

A Favor Isn’t Just a Favor

When my family and friends threw my baby shower earlier this year, it was full of wonderful things that I will forever keep in a special place in my heart. One was the act itself with all my family and friends; not exactly a surprise but I put my high school acting skills to good use. Another wonderful thing was the distance they traveled (in a snowstorm) just to attend and to honor me and the life I was bringing into this world. The one thing that made the shower so memorable was the favor that my friend in California

put together in her absence. Weeks before the shower, she had contacted everyone who was on the guest list – even those who couldn’t make it – and asked them for their favorite lullaby to include on a custom cd for me. She printed up the cd jacket with all the names of the songs as well as who chose them and put it in a cellophane bag with a photo album. She included a photo of me as a baby on the front as a tag. My mom chose “Baby Mine” by Bette Midler, which made me cry when I first listened to the cd, but at 8 months pregnant, it’s not much of a surprise.

Here is a list of the songs on my cd, to which my daughter has already fallen asleep many times:

Sleep, Sleep – Rosenshontz
Unicorn Song – Malarkey Brothers
Winken, Blinken and Nod – Kevin Roth & Janet Jackson Witman
Tala’al Badru Alayna – Yusuf Islam
Godspeed (Sweet Dream) – Dixie Chicks
Circle Game – Joni Mitchell
Baby Mine – Bette Midler
Lovely Evening – Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams
Eidelweiss – Sound of Music
You Are My Sunshine – Elizabeth Mitchell
When You Wish Upon a Star – Johnny Mathis
Friends Lullaby – Hem
A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes – Hem
Al-Mu’allim – Sami Yusuf
Sweet Jane – Cowboy Junkies
The Girl with the Flaxen Hair – Claude Debussy
Moon River – Audrey Hepburn
Lazy Eye – Hem
What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

I tried to post the above mix to itunes but because it was uploaded from a cd, it wouldn’t let me. Here is an imix I found on itunes that sounds like a good choice for showers.

Can’t Stop a Creative Friend from Meddling in the Process

A friend’s baby shower is actually the reason I decided to start this business in the first place. Since then, silver favor boxes with wraparound label every time a friend is having an event, I feel compelled to offer to help with the favors or any other creative print projects I can get my hands on. I really want to help them out but I also love every opportunity to flex my creative muscles.
I most recently worked on some favors for my friend Beth’s wedding in Vermont. She married a German man and wanted to use [tag]German chocolates[/tag] for the favors with tags on them somehow. We decided to use some petite silver boxes I had in stock and wraparound labels for a very simple yet classy look that complemented the table decor very well. The final decision on these favors were actually quite last-minute and my fellow usher and I spent an evening two days before the wedding putting these together. It gave me some perspective on how long it would actually take someone to put together the favors they might purchase from my site as well as the ease and simplicity of the components. While the task at hand was fun because we were chatting and thinking about our friend’s upcoming nuptials, I have to say the German chocolate helped us along quite a bit!
