Hello…Lover!

We are busy these days putting together some new favors for the summer and fall! We are using Merckens chocolate, the most heavenly, smooth chocolate I have tasted in a long, long time. Several years ago, The Chocolate Report did an extensive blind-tasting, with a crew of top chefs. Merckens was ranked #1 in both bittersweet chocolate and milk chocolate, and #2 in white chocolate. We have always carried the Fall Chocolate Foil Leaves Kit, and now we have improved it by changing the chocolate to this smooth, creamy milk chocolate. In addition, we are now offering chocolate seashells with silver, blue and pink foil.

M&M Candy Gifts and Favors

My father and I had a game while I was growing up. Okay, maybe it was more when I was over the age of 13 and too old for real games with Dad. Being a typical teenager, I liked the idea of having fun with him without actually admitting it. It was always m&ms, and I have no idea how it even started. We would take a package and hide them and one of us would give the other a clue somehow, by leaving a note somewhere. It was always something cryptic, which my dad was great at, something like, “Soup’s on” or something a little more obscure. This game seemed to end when I was living in my own apartment and Dad insisted the m&m’s were hidden somewhere in the apartment. I won’t say where they were hidden, but that was the end of the m&m game.

I still love m&m’s and I have a special place in my heart thanks to Dad and our fun together. There are so many things you can do with m&m’s nowadays, and I especially love the new wedding colors! We have so many favor packaging ideas these m&m’s would go wonderfully with them. We also have some classic wedding labels that would coordinate with the new colors.

Spring 2009 Wedding Colors

From the PANTONE Fashion Color Report – Spring 2009 by Douglas Hannant

Spring traditionally evokes a sense of freshness and new beginnings, with sprouting shoots and blossoming flowers that inspire designers to breakout of the winter doldrums. Bright colors return to the top 10 list for spring ’09, as designers incorporate vibrant pops into their collections, yet temper the vibrancy with deeper, translucent or neutral tones.

“New York’s fashion designers encourage hopeful attitudes with lively colors, while sophisticated, grounded hues address the need for stability in times of economic uncertainty,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

Bridal Hairapy

During the months leading up to my friend Beth’s wedding, we had a few discussions about her hairdo for the big wedding day. She went back and forth trying to decide what to do for the big day. If only we knew about this great site on Brides.com – you can upload your own photo and then add on different hairstyles, even makeup ideas! I tried it out but I won’t scare you with the results – the looks can get pret-ty crazy so it’s fun to try it out even just to decide on a new cut!

Thank you for sharing our day and other favor sayings, quotes, rhymes and adages

People have been asking what to put on their wedding and party favors and placecards as a thank you to the guests for sharing their special day with them. I have started a collection of wedding favor quotes, rhymes and sayings that will continue as a new section on our parent site, www.favorcreative.com.

Here is a little taste of some of the things we have found:

Irish Marriage Blessing
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children’s children.
May you be poor in misfortunes
and rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Ambrose Bierce
Love: a temporary insanity, curable by marriage.

Emily Dickinson
That Love is all there is,
Is all we know of Love.

Roy Croft

I love you
Not only for what you are
But for what I am
When I am with you

Bridal Inspiration – Wedding Guest Favors

When you were a little girl and dreaming of the wedding you would someday have, you likely dreamed about the white dress, the long walk down the aisle and the fairytale kiss when you were pronounced husband and wife. Chances are that you didn’t include dreaming about the wedding guest favors that would decorate the tables of your reception. In fact, when you began your wedding planning those wedding guest favors were likely not even on the first page of the list of things you were thinking about doing or the questions you needed to answer with regard to the planning.

wildflower wedding favor tinsWedding guest favors are about showing appreciation for your guests – they are a token of your gratitude for having come to the wedding and sharing the day with you. So they can be as serious and solemn or as fun and carefree as you’d like to make them. You typically match your wedding guest favors to the theme of the wedding so that they will look appropriate on the table settings. For example, one couple who were marrying found out they were pregnant about six months before the ceremony, they elected to have a silver spoon with colored ribbon tied to it for their wedding guest favor. Wedding guest favors can be simple or elegant. They can be typical or unique. They can be serious or funny. They can be practical or joking. Wedding guest favors reflect your joy, your creativity and your love for not only the person you are marrying, but for the guests who came to share in your special day. That’s where you get the inspiration for your wedding guest favors.

Bridal Shower Gift Ideas from LifeTips

Some popular bridal shower gifts today may include:

  • A Thin Digital Camera – Digital cameras are getting more and more compact. Every bride to be has a hundred different things to do and to remember. A thin digital camera will fit in her purse and let her take snaps of the different items she wants to remember so she can compare them all together later rather than trying to remember a certain shade or pattern
  • Comedy Gifts – A gift of comedy can be a funny book, a funny movie, or tickets to a comedy club – planning a wedding is stressful as all get out so giving them something to make them laugh is a great gift
  • A Day at the Spa – Go in with the other girls and pick up a spa gift certificate that lets her get a manicure, pedicure, hair done and even a massage – talk about shedding the stress and pampering her
  • Travel and Guide Books – Do you know where they are planning to have their honeymoon? Do they have more than one place they are talking about? Give her some guide and travel books to the different destinations so they can check out the different options and make their planning easier

Day to Night Wedding Decoration Idea

Silk-Flower Party Lights

wedding flower decoration
These flowers look like the prettiest climbing vines. But they’re not just sweet by day — they’re radiant by night. Despite their enchanted appearance, they are simply holiday lights covered with faux flowers (we chose flame-hued silk poppies).Making this decoration doesn’t require stitching, tape, or glue; all you need are silk flowers and a string of lights.

Silk-Flower Party Lights How-To

You’ll need miniature holiday string lights for outdoor use, as well as silk poppies or other flowers (one for each bulb) with removable plastic stems and centers, available at crafts stores. Pull the heads off the stems, then use scissors to enlarge the hole to about 1/4 inch to fit over the base of each light. If your flowers have layers of petals — as with a gardenia — stack them onto the base from largest to smallest. Push the petals back, away from the bulb, so they don’t touch it and overheat (for safety, be sure that each bulb is firmly connected to its base). Then hang the string of blooms just as you would any other decorative garland.
